AROUND THE CLUBS [By Seiiveu.] Last year's A grade champions, Aotea, will again be strung this season. Players who will probably make the senior grade will be Mason, Williams, Hanning, M'Vie, Misses Colquhonn (2), Leathley, and Turnbull. The selector has plenty of promising players to guide him for the other grades, all of which will be strong. Kensington promises to do well by entering live teams in all grades. Us senior team will probably comprise S. Gibson, Craig, Miller. Keen, Carruthers, Mrs Craig, Mrs Carruthers, Mrs Keen, Misses Firman (2). The junior teams will do well, mostly being comprised of new members. This club will bold a mixed doubles handicap tournament on the Labour Day week-end. Ravensbourne will place about the same team as last year in the A grade, although there is nothing definite yet as to its numerical strength. In the past this club lias always fielded strong teams in its various grades. Wakari has re-entered into competition after an enforced absence through court renovations. This club will enter two teams. Mr and Mrs G. Robertson, late of Kaikorai. will greatly strengthen the hill teams, as also will J. Huddart and A.

Chisholm. Its new courts will be an asset to the union. Forbury will also be strong. Players who will mostly be playing in the A grade will bo Gillions, Sims, Meihung, Cochrane, Standring, Misses Ross, Ballantyne, Swanson, Mcinung, Sutherland, and Watts. A new club, Macandrew Bay, will be entering in the union competitions, A grade promising players being Mrs Allan, Mrs Mercer, Mrs Tyric, Misses B. and (1. Macandrew, Foote, and Ryan, and Allan, Anderson, Scott, Treegonuing, Challis, Tyric, Wilson. Every success and good wishes are extended to this club. Kaikorai's senior team will be mostly last year's B team. Mrs Hoare, Misses Morrison and Eaing, and H. Hoare will be out again to give their support. Anderson's Bay will enter two teams in the competitions, and, although somewhat weakened on last year’s strength, should do well, as the members are keen. Musselburgh has lost its senior men, but is still strong in the ladies’ section. A number of young players arc available, and some should make the higher grade as the season advances.

Fire Brigade will still have some of its former players, notably Johnston, Hayward, Nevin, Craig, Milne, Mrs Laidlaw, Mrs Craig, Misses P. and N. and R. Nevin, R. Salmon, and Hayward. Kiwi has a large number of players this season, despite the loss of last season’s Erominent players. This club has always ceu strong in its playing strength and should give a good account of itself. Normal has much the same team as last year, and their members are keen to better their performances of previous years. Holy Cross has been promoted to A grade and may prove a tough proposition to the older clubs. J. Rodgers, Belcher, Watts, Hodgson, Spieres, and Misses Clark, Barclnv. Race, and Wenbcrn will probablv make the senior grade. New members will help their G grade team.
