REMARKABLE GOLF [Per United Press Association.] HAMILTON, October 7. The amateur golfer, R. H. Gladiug, had a remarkable round of do in a bogey competition at Hamilton, on Saturday, this being a record for tho course. Gladiug held the previous record of 09. In a splendid sequence of scores, Gladiug returned nine birdies and nine bogeys, and finished 9 strokes under the scratch score of the course. HIGH CASTE’S BEST PERFORMANCE DERBY NOT A TEST OF STAMINA SYDNEY, October 7. (Received October 7, at 1.15 p.m.) The weather for the second day of the A.J.C. meeting at llandwick is fine and the track in splendid order. The ‘Herald’ says: “High Caste was responsible for the best performance of his career when he won the Epsom Handicap. He was lame on the morning of the race and lame again yesterday. High Caste gave Milclura a long start into the straight and had his measure a fair way from the winning post.” Commenting on the Derby, the ‘Herald’ says: “The race resolved itself into practically a half-mile sprint and was not, as it should be, a test of stamina.” Mr Rowe, secretary of the Australian Jockey Club,- stated that he would bring under the notice of the committee the advisability of placing a condition on the Derby requiring the race to he run in reasonable time, otherwise the prize money would bo reduced.
