DEMOCRATIC LABOUR PARTY

A largely-attended meeting of members and supporters of the Democratic Labour Party was held in the Carroll street rooms on Thursday evening with the object of forming a branch of the party in Dunedin Central. The chair was occupied by Mr D. Boreham, who briefly explained the purpose of the meeting. An election of officers and executive members resulted in the following members being elected : —President, Mr M. Lawless; vice-president, Mr Frost; secretary and treasurer, Mr P. H. Petrie; executive —Messrs C. M’Arthur, Livesey, Gillfedder, Graham, O’Brien, Adkins, and Mrs Rae; reporter, Mr C. M’Arthur. A sub-committee, consisting of the president, vice-president, secretary, and Mr Powell was set up for the purpose of considering (he constitution of the party. It was also decided to set up a social committee at the conclusion of the branch meeting. A number of new members joined the party.
