MANCHESTER UNITY

The quarterly summoned meeting of Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, Port Chalmers, was presided over by N.G. Bro. A. Junes. Arrangements were completed for the entertainment of juvenile members at the next meeting. The evening’s entertainment took the form of a euchre tournament, lady friends being in attendance. Prizes went to Mr Gardiner and Mrs Elliott and Bros. H. Jenkins and W. M'Lean, Mrs Buck and Bro. W. M’Cormack receiving consolation prizes. The* first issue of the quarterly lodge journal made its appearance at the meeting of Loyal Caversham Lodge, and was well received. N.G. Bro. Aide conducted the business, which included the notification of many members join-

iivg up for military service, three of these being lodge officers. V .G. Bro. Grave, I.P.N.G. Bro. Allen, and P.G. Bro. V. Parker wore accorded an official lodge seml-off in the form of a smoke social. A number of toasts were honoured, and items were rendered by Bros. G. Valentine and S. C. Riddell. Loyal Valley Lodge was well attended at the meeting presided over by N.G. Bro. R. Darling, when the delegates to the district meeting gave a report of proceedings. The Social Committee reported progress on several forthcoming functions, and the N.G. was assured of full support in the offical visit to Loyal Albion.

N.G. Bro. IRck' Torrance presided at the meeting of Loyal Dunedin Lodge. Coniderable time was spent on the report of the delegates to the district meeting and on matters concerning the social security sickness benefit. An indoor bowls pairs competition was held, P.G.s Bro. Niven and M‘Dougall being the winners. Jt was decided to entertain lady friends at a euchre tournament next lodge night.
