BOMBS DROPPED AT RANDOM
VISITS BY SINGLE AIRCRAFT NO GREAT DAMAGE REPORTED (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph— Copyright RUGBY, October 3. (Received October 4, at 11 a.m.) Once again to-day enemy attacks have taken the form of visits by single aircraft. These are described in the following Air Ministry and Home Security communique: Reports received up to 5 p.m. (British standard time) indicate that bombs were dropped at random in a number of London boroughs and several houses were demolished, but it is not expected that the casualties will be heavy. Elsewhere bombs were dropped at various points in the Thames Valley, Essex, Kent, and Cornwall, but there was no serious damage and there was no fatal casualties reported in any of these districts. A number of casualties, including a few fatal injuries, were caused in a city in the Midlands and another small Midland town where a number of houses were demolished, but little other damage is reported. The enemy’s night raiding operations were again directed mainly against the London area where bombs were dropped indiscriminately, damaging houses and shops. There were some fatalities, but the damage was not extensive. The raiders also attacked several places in south-east England and started fires. There were a number of casualties here. Three houses were demolished and others damaged' in north-west England. Fires were started but were soon under control. Minor damage was caused by explosives and incendiaries at two places in Scotland. A famous public school in south-east London was slightly damaged by a Molotov breadbasket. The Germans attacked over 20 districts in and around Loudon throughout the night. A train was machine-gunned and a few persons slightly injured. A single enemy aircraft was shot down in an attack on a town in the Home Counties, where a number of persons were killed .and seriously injured by bombs and machine-gun bullets.
