LARGE CONTINGENTS GO NORTH MEN FOR BURNHAM AND TRENTHAM ■With the departure of members of the 4th Reinforcement for camp training the Dunedin Railway Station has presented an animated scene during the past two days. Yesterday’s crowded platform were duplicated to-day, when men for both Burnham and Trentham entrained. Those for Burnham left by special troop train at 8.45 a.m., about 344 men being under tbo control of Captain Ruddy. This is one of the biggest

drafts of men. to leave the city at one time, and the platform was crowded with relatives and friends for some time prior to the departure of the train. Thoi, men were allotted their carriages and then allowed to mingle with the people on tho platform. The precdure was orderly and the departure without incident, the crowd giving the men a hearty cheer as tho train pulled out from the station. From 10.15 a.m. onwards crowds again began to congregate at the station, for at 10.50 tho special detachmen for Trentham, under the accompanying officer (Captain Clarke), iva* due to depart. There were some 130 men in this draft. By the time the train was due to leave hundreds of people thronged the station. For the most part farewells were bright and cheery, a lively note being added by one soldier-recruit playing the bagpipes.
