COMMERCIAL PETROL
MINISTER'S FIGURES CHALLENGED CUT PERCENTAGE HIGHER THAN ADMITTED [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 3. Thu further statement of tile Government’s policy in restriction of the use of petrol, made by Mr Sullivan yesterday, is criticised by Mr Knight, secretary of tho Motor Trade Federation, and Mr Batt, chairman of the executive of the Wellington Automobile Association. Mr Knight says that the Minister quoted percentage figures to show that tho effect of the cuts on commercial licenses since June had been negligible, 3.5 per cent., but from information made available to him by petrol resellers the cut bad been very much higher. If, in giving the figure, the Minister divided all consumers into private and commercial, it might bo possible to arrive at sucli a low figure, as the Government and Army supplies would bo included in the latter. Air Batt says their criticism has been constructive, and their co-operation has been freely offered.
