WEDDINGS

HODGE—JOHANSON. The marriage was recently celebrated in Melbourne, at All Saints’ Church, St. Kilda, between Maurice Hodge, H. eldest son of Mr and Mrs A, E. Hodge, Isis street, Oamaru, and Lucille, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs L. ,7. Johanson, INI cl bourne, the officiating clergyman being Padre Donagan. Fellow members of the ILA.A.F. formed a guard of honour. BALLARD—SHEARER. The marriage took place at All Saints’ Church on Tuesday, October I, of Nola Ezna, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs. A. Shearer, Dunedin, and Paul Gardiner, only sou of Mr and Mrs L. B. Ballard, Opoho'. The Eov. Archdeacon Whitehead being the officiating clergyman. The bride, escorted by her brother-in-law, Mr E. Brown, made a charming picture in an ivory-striped satin and taffeta period frock with a bustle skirt finished in a loop bow. Her fulllength veil, worn over the face on entering the church, was hold in place with a cap of orango blossoms and she carried ■ a sheaf bouquet of arum lilies and roses. The bridesmaids, the Misses Veronica Shearer and Margaret Ballard, wore becoming frocks of gold-shot taffeta, cut on classical lines, the backs showing a bustle effect, finished with a bow of the same material. Clusters of abutilons, from which metal-edged shoulder-length veils were attached, were worn on their heads while they carried bouquets of abutilons. The bridegroom was attended by Mr Charles Hubbard, as best man, and Mr Guy Torpy as groomsman._ while the duties of ushers wore carried out by Messrs T. Stephenson and D. Shearer.

At the reception in Crawford Lounge the guests were received by Mrs A. Shearer and Mrs L. Ballard, the former being attired in black floral cloche with a black fur wrap and,hat of the same colour. while golden ranunculas formed her bouquet. Mrs Ballard was gowned in an ankle-length frock of navy lace, straw hat of navy, and squirrel cape. She carried a bouquet of richly-shaded anenoraos. KirarararararararararararSniallSllall»lf*llell¥l
