AUSTRALIAN RACING
SPRING CARNIVAL GALLOPS SYDNEY, October 1. Owing to heavy rain, candidates for the Spring Racing Carnival ran the semi-final gallops at Rosebery course, where the track was firm. Beaulivre beat Mildura rather easily over seven furlongs in Imin They ran the first half-mile in 50scc, Beaulivre going easily on the outside of Mildura at tho finish. ■ High Caste boat Gold Salute over six furlongs in Imin, High Caste was impressive, and came homo well. Beau Vile was given a strong mile in Imin 50Asec He was not at top throughout, and it was a very pleasing effort. Telasur; an Epsom light-weight possibility, ran seven furlongs in Imin 32sec. Rexfclt and Purtrader covered seven in good style in Imin 34scc. Landlaw took a second longer. Gundagai, an Epsom and Metropolitan light-weight, was very impressive over five furlongs in Imin 4sec. Lucrative was much too good for tho Derby favourite, Tidal Wave, over a milo in Imin 48sce, the last seven in Imin Tidal Wave was disappointing. Pandect, another Derby colt, finished very well over seven furlongs in Imin 31scc.
