ORPHANS' CLUB
SEASON CONCLUDED The Dunedin Orphans’ Club brought u highly successful season to a close last night, when there was a large attendance of°raembers and visitors at the club rooms in the Victoria Hall. Bro. Arthur MacDonald (president) was in the chair. The Chairman referred to the excellent programmes which had been arranged during the year, and tho toasts of tho Programme' Committee, the performers, tho orchestra, the stewards, the president, and absent lumbers wove enthusiastically honoured. A special " send-off ” was given to four members who are shortly going into camp-—Bros. J. Gordon, E. Paris, R. Watson, and R. Kerr, The Chairman also referred to the unfortunate interference of the weather which had caused the abandonment of tlic annual outing to the children of the local orphanages. Bro. MacDonald said, however, that the dainties and other good things which had been gathered for the occasion had been sent out to the institutions concerned, so that tho children would not be deprived of that part of their treat. Tbe programme submitted last night was well up to the standard, those contributing being Bros. J. Paterson, E. Paris, M. O’Sullivan, J. Gordon, G. Bridges (songs), C. H. Russell, J. B. M’Connell (recitations), ,M. Johnson, VV. Smith (instrumental items), J. Pringle, R. M’Dougall, W. Stevenson, R. W. Brown, R. S. Moloney, A. Clarke (humorous items). The club orchestra, under Bro. J. Clark, was in its best form.
