ST. KILDA AFFAIRS

MEETING OF BOROUGH COUNCIL The fortnightly meeting of the St. Kikia Borough Council was held last night, the mayor (Mr J. J. Marlow) presiding. The Finance Committee notified that receipts in the past fortnight amounted to £3,399 2s XOd, while the bank account stood at credit £2,724 14s 9d. Accounts amounting to £31(5 18s (id were recommended to be passed for payment.—The report was adopted. It was decided to donate £5 5s to the Otago branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society. The inspector (Mr F. T. De Largey) reported that for the fortnight ended September 28 he had issued six motor drivers’ licenses. The plumber (Mr A. N. Rhepperd) reported he had repaired 10 water bursts in the fortnight ended September 25, as well as attending to other repairs to mains. A report on duties occupying his attention during the fortnight ended September 27 was presented by the foreman (Mr J. C. Olyrna). Water consumption for the past fortnight amounted to 2,540,000 gallons, at a cost of £IOO 10s lOd. For the previous fortnight the cost was £Ol lbs Bd. 1
