SOUTHLAND APPRENTICESHIP ORDER The Industrial Magistrate (Mr .1. A. Gilmour) has issued an apprenticeship
order governing the Southland electrical trades. In a memorandum to the order the Magistrate states that the only matter in dispute related to the question of proportion, all the other provisions having been agreed upon by the Apprenticeship Committee. After consideration of the written submissions
of the parties, ho had come to the conclusion that the ratio provided for in the expired apprenticeship order should remain unaltered. The rates of remuneration prescribed by the order were agreed to by the Apprenticeship Committee before the promulgation of the general order of the court, dated August 9, 1940, under the Rates of Wages Emergency Regulations. 1940, ami a provision had accordingly been inserted giving effect to that order..
