OBITUARY
CONSTABLE A. KING [Per United Press Association.] TIMARU, September 27. The death occurred suddenly to-day of Constable A. King, who had been stationed at Tiraaru for 10 years. At one time ho was a footman in the service of King George V. He served in the Great War, and was a member of the Metropolitan Police Force in London for seven years. Ho leaves a wife and nine children. One son is in the army, one in the navy, and one in the Air Force.

LONDON, September 26. The death has occurred of Mr William Henry Davies, the “ tramp poet.” [William Henry Davies, who was born in 1871, picked up most of his knowledge among tramps in America, on
cattle boats, and in common lodging houses in London. For six years he was a tramp in America, and sometimes varied this life by singing hymns in the streets. He published his first book of poems when he was 34.]
