CANTON ARMY
VAIN EFFORTS TO HALT ADVANCE HANOI, September 27. (Received September 28, at noon.) It is officially stated that the French have asked Tokio to send a plenipotentiary to Indo-China to halt the Canton army’s continued southward advance, which the French army is not opposing. The French said Major-general Nishihara had failed in his efforts to halt the army and was now en route to Tokio on board a transport.
