PILOT DROPS FOUR MILES
BOOTS TORN OFF A Royal Air Force pilot flying • Hurricane plane fell into the sea after lie had dropped nearly four miles. H# had no boots, socks, or helmet when he was rescued. They were torn oil by the rush of air as he hurtled down. He fell 12,000 ft before his parachut# opened. He damaged a Messersehmitt 110, which was diving away out of control when he, himself, was hit.
He explained that lack of oxygon, must have dulled his senses, as the (light ended at 19.000 ft. and his parachute opened at 7.000 ft. He was fired on during the way down. He was soon picked up, and rejoined his squadron.
