MONTHLY MEETING At the monthly meeting of the committee of the Otago A. and P. Society held on Thursday afternoon, Mr W. Lee presided. The Finance Committee recommended payment of accounts amounting to £659 Is 9d, and these were passed for payment. .The bank balance was £546 Os 8d in credit, and outstanding cheques amounted to £l3 7s tid. The lease of the seed store was approved and signed. The lease of the show' buildings for the wool season was approved. Tenders were received for repairs at the Tahuna Park and Crqwford street buildings and referred to the Grounds and Buildings Committee, with power to act. A letter was received from the New Zealand Meat Producers’ .(Board asking if Otago would be holding a district lamb competition. Mr K. Clark, of the New Zealand Refrigerating Company, said that his company would be. prepared to offer his society the usual facilities, but he doubted if there would be sufficient support to enable the competition to bo run successfully. He suggested that the matter be hold over until the next meeting, and that full inquiries be made in the meantime to see what support would be forthcoming, and this suggestion was,approved. The Navy Queen Committee was granted the use of the Agricultural Hall for an auction sale, and applications from both the Army and Navy Queen Committees for the use of Tahuna Park on dales during the last week of October were left to the secretary. with a recommendation that the Queen Committees be asked to amalgamate these fixtures and make one really attractive fixture on November 2. The prospectus for the shearing classes arranged by the Otago Primary Production Council was laid on the table, and members agreed to get in touch- with any likely pupils in their districts.
