This is the unusual ■story of ‘ Hehccca,’ which has now entered the fourth week of an unusually successful season at the Octagon. It is being hailed as one of the most notable films of the year. It faithfully follows the original work, the only changes being due to necessity for abbreviation. Stellar roles arc tilled by Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine, the latter in her biggest part yet. Olivier is seen as Maxim do Winter, who marries again after the death of his faithless first wife. Ills second wife, a
sensitive woman, inclined to bo an introvert. feels the unseen presence ol the girl he married lir‘t. and the story works up to a powerful climax as the strain heroines more and more oppressive.
Miss Fontaine makes an excellent job of her part as the second wife, and shows that? she has her feet securely sot on the path to screen fame. George Sanders. Judith Anderson, and Nigel Brnee are also in the cast. Also showing on the same programme is an exceptionally interesting issue of the 1 March of Time.’
