MILK CONSUMPTION
LOW AUSTRALIAN FIGURES Dairy statistics released by the Commonwealth Statistician disclose that the average consumption of milk a head of population in Australia is only about lOoz a day. About 13.8 per cent, of Australia s milk production is used in its natural form for human consumption and other purposes. Of the average consumption m the last recorded five years—l,lso,ooo,ooo gallons—--79.5 per cent, was used to make butter, 4.2 per cent, for cheese, and 2.5 per cent, for condensed and powdered milk.
