BOWLING
OTAGO LADIES' ASSOCIATION On Wednesday, in ideal weather, the above association opened the season on the greens at Logan Park, when there was a good attendance. The president of the centre (Mrs G. Columbus) referred to the excellent condition of the greens, under the supervision of Mr E. J. Campbell and the two greenkeepers, and expressed the centre’s appreciation of the work done by them. The mayor (Mr A. H. Allen) wished the ladies a successful season, and Mr Butler ’(on behalf of the men’s centre) extended his best wishes. The supervisor (Mr Campbell) congratulated the ladies on obtaining two greens, which compare favourably with any greens in the city. He also stressed the point that, in order to keep the greens in perfect condition, all matches should be played on them. Mrs Columbus then called on the mayoress to roll up the first bowl and declared the season opened.
