ATTEMPTS ON RECORDS At the Municipal Baths last night Miss Betty Stewart, of the Kiwi Amateur Swimming Club, made an attempt on the New Zealand junior girls’ 50yds breast stroke record of 40sec, held by her sister. Miss Mary Stewart. For so early in the season Miss Stewart put up a tine performance, her time being 40 2-ssec, only 2-ssec outside the record. Miss Stewart has another season in junior ranks. Miss Ngairo Lane, of the Kiwi Club, failed in an attempt to improve on her own Otago junior girls’ 100yds free .stylo record of 71 see, her time being 7-’t 2-osee. Miss Lane lost badly on her start, but finished strongly.
