Hon. M. Connelly, M.L.C., Mr P„ Neilson, M.P., Mr J. W. Munro* M.P., and Mr W. M. C. Denham* M.P., left for Wellington by the express to-day. Mr P. Carr, M.P., who has been spending a few days in Dunedin, was also a passenger for Wellington.

The Hospital Board, at its monthly meeting last night, appointed Dr Murray M'George, Dr J. V. Cable, and Dr D. U. Strang as senior assistants at the Hospita|l. Dr S. P. Aitken and Dr C. S. Moore were appointed, junior assistants. i

It was notified in the * Gazette ’ last night that Messrs H. C. Beuke, C. J. 'Boyes, K. J. Hoylake, S. O’Hara, and B. T. Rowling had been appointed members of the Hop Marketing Committee.

Sir Ernest Roberts, of. Rangoon, Chief Justice of the High Court in Burma, has arived at Auckland from Sydney on a short visit to New Zealand.

Mr Justice C. M. Murray-Aynsley. a judge of the Supreme Court_ of the Straits Settlement, has arrived 'at Auckland on a visit to New Zealand. Sir William Perry and Messrs H.’ D. Acland, L. Mac Lean. and G. C. Warren, representing the New Zealand wool-growers, have been appointed members of the New Zealand Wool Council. Messrs A. F. Bell and N. Rowling have been reappointed members of the Tobacco Board. Mr C. M. Paynter, manufacturers' representative, and Mr M. H. Thorn, growers’ representative* have also been appointed to the board. Mr James Lockie Stewart, of the legal firm of Messrs Sladden and Stewart, bas been appointed Grand Secretary of the M.UJ.0.0.F., New Zealand, in succession to the late Mr A* G. Shrimpton.—Wellington Press Association.

Expressing regret in his monthly report to'the High Schools Board that Pilot-officer M. E.' Brian Macassey, ofi the Royal Air Force,’had been killed in a flying accident in Britain, the rector of Otago Boys’ High School (Mr H. P. Kidson) stated that this made the fourth old boy to have lost his life in the war. There were in addition three who had been long posted “ missing,” and one who was a prisoner of war.' All were members of the Air Force.
