PUBLIC SERVICE SMOKE CONCERT
The members of the Public Service met last evening in the Crawford Lounge for their annual smoko concert, also to do honour and bid farewell to several of their members who are shortly joining the 4th Reinforcements prior to going overseas. A bright programme of toasts, solos, and choruses banished for a few hours the ponderous duties of the Government servant. The function was in the capable hands of the chairman of the Otago Public Service Association (Mr E. C. J. Foot). The following toasts were honoured after the loyal toast: —“The Public Service Association (Mr E. A ; Selman, response Mr E. C. J. loot), “ The 2nd N.Z.E.F. and Members of the 4th Reinforcements ” (Mr A. .1Gordon, response Mr A. W. Carnahan), “ Kindred Associations ” (Mr C. H. Hoskin, response Mr S. Clark), “ Seacliff Subsection ” (Mr U. Dewar, response Mr Robson), “ The Ladies ’ (M I. M. M'Farlane), “The Performers” (Mr H. S. M'Millan, response Mr Murphy). Items were contributed by Messrs Dunbar, Bolwell, Power, Phelan, Murphy, and Uncle Percy.' Altogether a happy evening was spent in song, toast, and story.
