HORSE PARADE

CLYDESDALE STALLIONS AT TAHUNA MR A. GRANT’S ALLANDALE CHATHAM CHAMPION Entries in the fifty-seventh annual parade of stallions hold at Tahuna Park this morning were smaller than for some years, totalling only 10, but under prevailing conditions the reduction must have boon expected. The standard of the horses exhibited, however, was generally high, and there was a larger attendance than might have been expected. From comments made by the onlookers it was obvious that the judge’s platings found unanimous approval. the general opinion being that the horses were more than favourably placed. At the same time there was very little competition. The results of the judging were as follows: — CLYDESDALE STALLIONS, four years or over. Four entries. Mr Andrew Grant’s Allandale Chatham I. , ' _ , .p. Mr G. P. Johnston s Comely Dunmore 2. Mr D. S. Brown’s Verdlea Moonlight 3. CLYDESDALE STALLIONS, throe years. Mr R. Hamilton’s Remarkable 1. Mr Andrew Grant’s Allandale Douglas 2. The only entries. CLYDESDALE STALLIONS, two years. Mr Andrew Carnithcrs’s Scotia 1. Mr G. P. Johnston’s Comely Majestic 3 Mr G. P. Johnston’s Comely Marquis 3 The only entries. CLYDESDALE STALLIONS, one year. Mr C. T. M'Callum’s Ginger Jack 1. The only entry. Mr Grant’s Allandale Chatham proved the champion horse of the parade, being awarded the Wright, Stephenson Perpetual Challenge Cup for Clydesdale stallions, four years and over; also the Donald Reid Memorial Perpetual Challenge Shield, irrespective of age. The reserve champion was Mr Johnston’s Comely Dunmore. Commenting on the parade, the judge, Mr W. M‘Caw Allison (Milton) said that the lack of competition was disappointing. The champion and reserve champion were outstanding horses. The champion had paraded before, but his bone and feather were looking at their beat to-day. The winning stallions in every class were up to the usual standard and would have held their own against competition.
