TENNIS OPENING
OTAGO CLUB On Saturday afternoon, under perfect weather conditions, a large gathering of tennis enthusiasts was present at the Otago courts, when Mr E. G. Boddy (vice-president), in the absence of the president (Mr H. S. Adams) declared the season open for play. Sir James Allen, a life member of the club, in a short speech, wished all the players a successful year. The pavilion was gaily decorated with flowers and bunting, and here afternoon tea, at which members were the guests of the president, wms served. Amongst those present were Mesdames Lyndon Macassey, W. Lang, David Smith, Walter Hislop, C. Stephens, E. G. Boddy, James Dunlop, Ralph Sleigh, Misses M. Burt, Muriel Easton, Mary Lord, Ann Salmon, Rona Benson, Pat Miles, Pam Miles, Eleanor Carswell, Betty Elvidge, Kathleen Smyth, Barbara _ Dodgslum, Hilary Runnerstrum, Judith Gallaway, Joyce Throp, Barbara Young, Kathleen Murray, Pat Fraser, Mary Eraser, J. Graham, Hilary Kidson, Isabel Fraser. Betty Fraser, Rena Porteous, Marjory Thompson, Dorothy Gregg, Theo. Marsh, Elizabeth Brewer, Marjory Pal-mer-Brown, Sheila Macdonald, Sir James Allen, Messrs Charles Allen, E. G. Boddy, David Smith, Jack Hardy, Walter Hislop, A. Smith, Jock Ramsay, Jack Shacklock, John Brent, Pat MacAvoy, Douglas Breen, Lieutenant Fitzgerald, and Drs R. Walton, Murray, M'George, and Neil Begg.
