Notes. In the maiden trophy stake meeting a dog appears under the name of Mickey Free. This name was claimed many years back by Mr J. Hannan. The dog he registered proved a great success both on the enclosure and later as a stud sire. Mr Hannan’s, dog, Mickey Free, was by Pretty Mickey— Miss Artillery. This dog was later sold by Mr Hannan to Mr Roche, and while owned by the latter Mickey Free sired many winners. It is unfortunate that the names of many outstanding greyhounds of the past should be duplicated, and in most cases during recent years by dogs of very ordinary standard. Tho stud dam, Rahpipay _ (Why Worry—Mickey Lass) appears in most clubs’ programmes incorrectly. Owners of dogs, when nominated, should make sure that mistakes such as this do not appear. Greyhounds are not entitled to the prefex imp., meaning imported, unless they come from tho other side of the Equator, Dogs bred in Australia and raced in New Zealand are not entitled to such a prefix. They should appear as Australian bred. This question was decided many years ago.
