OBITUARY

MR A. E. Jtfil, M.P. [Per United Press Association.] HASTINGS, September 24. Mr A. K. dull, M.P. for Waipawa, collapsed and died suddenly to-night at Waipawa. Mr Albert Edward dull was born at Foat Erie, Canada, in 1864, and came to New Zealand in 1877. He went to Waipawa in 1881, and had resided there ever since. H e was first elected to the Waipawa Town Board in 1890, and was chairman for some years. He was prominent in local politics in Hawke’s Bay for many years, and for a long period held the chairmanship of tlie_ Napier Harbour Board. He was president of the New Zealand Counties’ Association first in 1904. In addition, he was a member of the Highways Board, a past president of the Power Boards’ Association, and a past president of the New Zealand Fire Brigades’ Association. Mr dull unsuccessfully contested the Waipawa seat as a Liberal against Sir George Hunter in 1911. 1914. and 1919. He was elected for Waipawa in 1930, in the United Party’s interests. He was defeated in 1935 by Mr H. M. Christie (Labour), but regained the seat at the last election.
