SCENE OF SENSATIONAL EVENTS.—A street scene in Dakar an important French naval base in Senegal, West Africa, where’ General de Gaulle, leader of Free Frenchmen, has arrived with a combined Free French and British force to circumvent German control of the port and to rally Frenchmen to his flag. Some resistance was encountered and the Vichy Government alleges that British warships opened fire.
