The Loader of the Opposition (Hon. Adam Hamilton), accompanied by Ins private secretary (Mr C. H. Williams), arrived last night from Invercargill, and left to-day for Wellington. Mr A. A. Dollons, formerly of Wanganui, has taken up his,duties here as district engineer of the F. and T. Department Mr H. L. Paterson was a passenger by the through express to-day, being bound for Wellington to attend a meeting of the Joint Council of the St. John Red Cross War Committee. Mr James Hogg left to-day on his way to Wellington. Mr Guv Taploy, bound for Christchurch, travelled by the through express to-day. Mr Percy Shaw, who has been on a visit to Dunedin and Invercargill, left to-day on his return to Auckland, Mr L. Hayman, who has been station master at Wingatui for tho past five years, has been promoted to inwards goods clerk at Dunedin, and will take up his new duties on Thursday. Lieutenant-colonel A. Cowles, president of the Wellington Returned Soldiers’ Association, has been appointed secretary and orgahiser of the Wellington Home Guard Committee. Mr L. Stewart, who has been on the stall of St. Andrew’s College, Christchurch, for about 20 years, will be head master during the absence of Lieuten-ant-colonel J. B. Mawson in the military forces. Mr Stewart served with the Royal Air Force in the Great War. The 1 Gazette ’ announces the transfer of Captain D. C. W. Cossgrove, New Zealand temporary staff, officer in charge of sick and wounded records for the Southern Military District, to a similar position at Army Headquarters, Wellington. Warrant-officer Staff Sergeant-major R. W. Borland has been promoted to be second lieutenant, and will take charge of tho sick and wounded records at Southern Military District Headquarters, Christchurch. Mr John Ball, who has been associated with radio broadcasting in New Zealand almost from its inception, has retired on superannuation. Formerly editor of the Wanganui * Chronicle,’ Mr Ball became an announcer at the new 2YA station in the middle of 1927, when the Radio Broadcasting Company of New Zealand Limited controlled the service, and for a while he was in the head office of the company at Christchurch. When tho Broadcasting Board assumed control in 1932, Mr Ball was station manager at 2YA, and he retained that position until bis retirement. Mr L. A. Tracy, of Wellington, has been appointed to tho New Zealand Boxing Council as treasurer, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr E. A. Dawson.—Press Association,
