One mile one furlong. TIDAL WAVE. 8.5 (Bartle) 1 Pandect, 8.5 (Cook) 2 Lucrative, 8.5 (M'Carten) 3 All started. Tidal Wave finished strongly over the last furlong and won by half a neck, with Lucrative a neck away third. Time, Imin 55£aeo.
HILL STAKES, £750. One mile. BEAU VITE, 9.0 (M'Menamin) ... 1 High Caste, 9.0 (Bartle) ... ;... 2 Buzaloug, 9.0 (Shean) ... ... ... 3 All started. Beau Vite and High Caste together led the field all tho way. Though High Caste was in charge at the beginning, Beau Vite wore him down and won by a length and a-quarter; four lengths separated second and third. Time, Imin 39ssec. Yours Truly was unplaced in the Red Cross Cup, and Nightbeam was unplaced in the A.I.F.

LESLIE STUART STAKES, £3OO. Seven furlongs. JUDEAN, 7.4 (Elliot) ... 1 Magic Circle, 7.4 (Williamson) ... 2 Pure Gold, 7.13 (Parted) 3 Five started. Won by a length and a-quarter, with a head between second and third. Time, Imin 25£sec.
RIFLE SHOOTING
KIWI CLUB The Kiwi Defence Rifle Club fired the second stage of the President’s Match on the Pelichet Bay range on Saturday afternoon. The ranges were 500 and 600, yards, and seven counting shots with one optional sighter were fired at each distance. Extreme variations of light • caused by passing clouds and a strong southerly wind made shooting conditions interesting, and as a consequence no possibles were recorded. With two. shoots gone Riflemen A. Baker and S. Smith have each two limits in hand, while single -limits are held by Riflemen E. Adams, R. K. Johnson, G. Adams, W. Pullar, W. Crimp, and_ J. M'Kinlay. Next Saturday’s shoot will conclude the match, the ranges being 300 and 600 yards. The results of Saturday’s shoot were:—
