CAR COLLISION
ELDERLY WOMAN KILLED [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, September 22. A fatal collision occurred at the intersection of the Hinuera, Tauranga, and Matamata roads yesterday afternoon. The victim was Mrs Ida Caroline Gardner, aged. 61 years, of Taumarunui.
Mrs Gardner was travelling with her husband, David Gardner, a mill manager, of Taumarunui, in a car driven by L. R. Pulliam, of Taumarunui, when the vehicle was involved in a collision with another car driven by F, H. Holmes, of Matamata. Mrs Gardner was severely crushed in the chest, and died from her injuries in the Matamata Hospital six hours later. The other occupants of the car driven by Pulliam suffered minor injuries, but Holmes and his companion were unhurt. Both cars were seriously damaged.
