Messrs C. Stanley Smith, S. D. Smith, W. Easton, and W. K. Sinclair returned yesterday from a conference of newspaper proprietors at Wellington.
Mr F. J. Williams was a passenger by the through express to-day on liis way to Wellington. Mr H. C. Harley has retired from the presidency of the Automobile Association (Canterbury! after three years in office, and will be succeeded by Mr C. G. Curtis. Staying at the City Hotel are Mr 11. R. Rout (Wellington), Air and Airs F. L. Brandt, Aliss 11. Brandt, Aliss H. Laugel, Mr H. Stevens (Christchurch), Air H. Milne, Mr T. S. M. White (Gore), Air and Airs J.
