WELCOME RAIN
DROUGHT BROKEN IN H.S.W. Frees Association— By Telegraph— Copyright SYDNEY, September 20. Long-awaited rain began in New South Wales to-day, and the chief concern of the whole population is: Will it continue? The Weather Bureau predicts substantial falls, and, according to early reports, the wheat belt is receiving beneficial rain. The citizens of Sydney are hoping against hope that the metropolitan catchment area will receive a thorough drenching, as the capacity of all the reservoirs ie only sufficient to last six months.
