[From Oub Correspondent] MILTON COURT. Mr H. J. Dixon, S.M., presided over a short sitting of the Milton Magistrate’s Court on Friday. .James McDonald Henderson, Milton, was charged with having a bottle of sherry in his possession in the vicinity of St. John’s Hall when a dance was in progress, and was convicted/ and fined 20s, with 10s costs. Peter Murdoch, Milton, for riding a bicycle without a light, was fined os, with 12s costs. BRUCE SCOTTISH SOCIETY. There was a very large attendance at the monthly social of the Bruce Scottish Society on Thursday night, when the proceeds were donated to the borough queen campaign. Chief Nelson Drinnan presided, and welcomed the queen (Miss E. Thornton) and her maids of honour. An excellent musical ■programme was contributed by Misses D. Cockerill, H. Warnock, G. Clarke, M. Hughes, M. Walker, S. Borthwick, P. Campbell, A. Wilson, A. Warnock, and Messrs R. Allison, G Clark, D. Stewart, C. Allan, and the Rhythm Boys. The mayor (Mr W. J. Cockburn), on behalf of the Milton Patriotic Committee, thanked the society for donating the proceeds to the carnival funds. Supper was then served, after which an enjoyable dance was held, the music being supplied by Mr W. Taylor, while Miss M. Moffitt played extras. Mr J. Campbell was M.C.
