TRAVEL CLUB

ANNUAL MEETING The Dunedin Travel Club, one of the city’s most popular organisations, held its annual meeting at the Crawford Lounge on Thursday evening, when there was a large attendance of members. Air W. R. Brugh, as chairman, welcomed the club’s patron, the mayor, Mr A. H. Allen, and Airs Richard Hudson, who wore a black sequined gown, with a mole cap, presented Airs Allen with a bouquet. Airs Allen wore a handsome black velvet frock, with an ermine cape. In moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, the president, Air Brugh, said it was encouraging to know that, notwithstanding the troublous times, the club was able to show an increase in membership

I he Mayor congratulated members on their activities of last year, and made an appeal for support for patriotic work. Office-bearers were elected as follows:—Patron, the mavor (Mr A. H. Allen); president, Mr W. H. Unigh: vice-presidents—Messrs J. Sutherland

Ross, H. L. Gibson, and Mesdaraes Richard Hudson, J. A. Jenkins, and Battersby; secretary, Miss Kathleen Greenslacle; treasurer, Mr R. S. Cantrell ; council—Mesdames Richard Hudson, J. A. Jenkins, Battersby, Ivo Carr, Clark, and G. Aikman, and Messrs F. Tyson, S. P. Cameron, N. R. M‘lsaac, and H. H. Henderson, and representatives of the Otago Harbour Board, Chamber of Commerce, Otago Expansion League, Automobile Association (Otago), and the Rotary Club. Mrs J. A. Cook, the retiring chairman of the Ladies’ Entertainment Committee, was presented with a bouquet, and Mrs R. Hudson will fill this office for the coming year. • During the evening an entertaining programme was arranged, when the Group Travel Association presented moving pictures of Mount Cook and the Southern Lakes. Mrs Hinton sang two songs—‘ Nocturne,’ by Michael Head, and ‘ I Wonder if Love is a Dream, ’ Miss Anita Winkel was most amusing with two humorous sketches. Mrs Walmsley’s quartet sang ‘ Who is Sylvia?’ ‘Love’s Refrain,’ and ‘The Old Rustic Bridge.’ Fpllowing these items, supper was served, when a social hour was spent.
