JUVENILE VANDALISM.—At the Macandrew road end of Bathgate Park, the St. Peter’s Tennis Club has a tennis court, and for the privilege of using the ground it pays the City Council £5 a year. However, its costs do not end there. Each year juveniles in the district, apparently unchecked, destroy the netting as illustrated, and enter the courts. Initial cost was £2OO, but if no protection is afforded the club, a further £2OO will soon be spent for repairs of the damage done. The club alleges that the council cannot give protection. Why? It is up to residents of the district to curb the animal spirits of their children, states the club.
