WRESTLING TITLE
KATAN V. M’CREADY
Hard and fast wrestling by two of the world’s finest exponents of the sport will be seen at the Town Hall on Tuesday night when Earl M'Cready (challenger), and John Katan (holder) will meet for the British Empire championship. Largely owing to the time M'Cready has spent in this country and the efforts lie mdde to establish undisputed claim to the title, New Zealanders have long taken a special interest in the Empire championship and they realise that it would be hard to find two more worthy contenders than M'Cready and Katan. The 1940 professional season is now drawing to a close and it remains for Tuesday night’s bout to decide who is to take the crown away with him. The more vigorous and fiery style which M'Cready has been following this year and tho spirited opposition he can depend upon encountering from Katan makes .it certain that the spectators will see M'Cready extended to the full. Recognition, too, is freely given to the part Katan has played in the season’s operations.
