ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

TUNNEL FATALITY. The lower hydro-electric development scheme at Piripaua-Waikare-moana was the scene of another distressing fatality at an early hour this morning, the victim being Charles Storey, married, who was engaged on the work of constructing a tunnel. At the time of the accident Storey was in charge of the concreting operations in the tunnel. Although no one saw the accident, it appears that he stepped in front of a locomotive which was engaged in drawing trucks of concrete from the tunnel mouth to the face where the concreting operations were in progress. Storey died while being conveyed to the AVairoa Hospital.— T’ress Association.
