LOCKED IN STEAMER’S PRISON
BREACH OF SHIPPING EMERGENCY REGULATION CIVIL SERVANT FINED * [Pee United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 20. Stated by counsel to have been locked up in the ship’s prison with a bayoneted guard over him all night until he was taken to the police station, George Arthur Farnworth, a civil servant, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to a breach of the Shipping Emergency Regulation by going aboard a transport some time ago without a permit. The police said the accused was noticed leaving the ship about 9.45 p.m., and when asked to produce his pass he refused to do so. Ho gave a false name, but later admitted his identity. He produced a pass which had been cancelled when tho ship was last in England. Accused was fined £2 and costs.
