ST. LEONARDS-BURKES PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE
The children of the district mad* their first big effort to assist the.l patriotic funds on Saturday last, whenrthey presented a variety entertainment'" in King George’s Hall, St. Leonards. An outstanding item was the “ Brit- ' tania ” tableau;- which was presented with the theme, ‘There’ll Always he an England.’ Much credit is due to the producer, Miss Florence Gillies, of Dunedin, who, in addition to conducting rehearsals for more than three.. months, made all the frocks and other'* costumes. The local funds benefited to., the extent of over £l4.
