PETROL RESTRICTIONS.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir.— I have read with considerable interest the leading article in your issue ot Friday. 13th inst., and it would appear from this that Australia to-day has in force a system of rationing. This is not the case, as the rationing plan is to come into operation in Australia on October 1. With regard to your comments on the influence of the election in Australia on petrol restrictions, T do not think the election has had any influence on the position, by reason of the Fact that an influential committee has been working on the petrol restriction plan for quite a long time, and long before there was any talk of an election. 1 attach hereto a cony of the Australian scheme, which will indicate to you that the scheme which is to he brought into operation there on October 1 is one that is based on a scientific investigation of the whole of the problems involved.
