CROSS-COUNTRY RACES
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS' HIGH SCHOOL The annual cross-country races of the Christian Brothers’ High School were decided yesterday, 172 boys taking part—s2 in the senior and 120 _ in the junior. The course was approximately three miles, and provided u real test of stamina, the start being from the school, the runners proceeding down York Place to the foot, then on to Stuart street, and up past the Boys High school, proceeding through
to Highgate, to the “ Clear,” at Maori Hill, and back by the Town Belt to the school. The senior race was won by E. Fitae gerald, off the 4min mark, bis time being 27mm 22sec, and fastest time went to the scratch man, M. Gillick, in 24min 33sec, his brother, T. Gillick, gaining fastest time in the junior event, in 26min 20sec, the winner being R. Paterson (4imin), in 28min 20sec. Both events were well contested, and that there is any amount of good distance talent in the school. Results : Senior.—E. Fitzgerald (4min), 1; K, Holmes (2imin), 2: K. Cull (2min), 3f E. Cameron (l|min), 4; L. Moroney (2*min), 5; M. Gillick (sor), 6. Time, 27min 22sec. Fastest time, M, Gillick, 24min 33sec. Junior.—R. Paterson <4Jmin), I; M, O’Brien (3min), 2; D Dysart (3Jmin), 3; C. Cameron (2Jmin), 4; D. Paterson (3min), 5; D. Gallinan (4rain), 6. Time, 28mm 20sec. T. Gillick («cr), who finished fourteenth, gained fastest time in 26min 2flsec.
