The result of this race will decide the Nickels Cup competition for the team, consisting of three men from a club, gaining the least aggregate points in the Port-Dunedin and modified marathon races. The Mornington Club is the present holder, and as a result of its team’s win in the Port race, is again in a strong position, although it will be somewhat weakened by the absence of R. Wilson, last year’s winner. Points for the Nickels Cup at present are; Mornington 22, Civil Service 28, Caversham 29. Leith 44, and Celtic 66, Fastest time in the race last year went to G. L. Austin, who finished in second place, and, by the way in which he is running this year, it looks as though he will again gain fastest time honours.
