OTAGO POWER BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING The, monthly meeting of the Otago Electric Power Hoard was field yesterday at Milton, Mr ,D. Hoyd presiding. The finance report indicated that the receipts for the month amounted to £6,185 3s 10d and the expenditure to £7,397 Os 2d. Accounts amounting to £1,375 7s Id were passed for payment. A deputation representing residents of the Middlomareli district waited on the board to ask that power should bo supplied to a number of houses. The Secretary explained that when the area concerned had originally been canvassed in connection with the Central Otago scheme, insufficient guarantees had been available. The settlors were now anxious to obtain power, and wished the subject to receive further consideration by the hoard. Mr M’Gill and the engineer were appointed to meet the residents concerned and go into the question of guarantees. In reply to a letter from the Power Boards’ Association, it was agreed to support a proposal to hold a conference next September. Mr R. D. Veitch, formerly engineer to the board, extended congratulations to the hoard on liav ing gained a total of 5.000 consumers.
