FOURTH REINFORCEMENT
MOBILISATION PLANNED FOR OCTOBER 2 MEN TO AWAIT INDIVIDUAL ORDERS [l’ek United Piubs Association.] WELLINGTON, September 17. “ I am glad to say that the outbreak of measles which resulted in a postponement of the calling up of men of the Fourth Reinforceernnts has been very limited in extent,” said the Minister of Defence, Mr F. Jones, to-day. “ After consultation with the DirectorGeneral of Health, Dr M. H. Watt, and the Director-General of Medical Services, Lieutenant-colonel T. W. Bowcrbank, it lias now boon decided to proceed with the programme of concentrating the men in their respective mobilisation camps, and arrangements are in hand for the necessary movements of troops to begin on October 2. “ Although a further outbreak of measles is not regarded as likely,” the Minister added, “ a recrudescence of the epidemic may necessitate a further postponement of the concentration of the Fourth Reinforcements. Members of this draft, therefore, are instructed to remain in their present employment pending receipt of individual orders to proceed to camp.”
