A school of porpoises, probably th® same as visited the harbour during the week-end, was seen to-day at St. Clair, in the vicinity of the swimming baths. In playful mood, they disported them‘selves in the calm sea which was running, and attracted the attention of a large number of people. The porpoises were within 100yds of the shore—closer than anyone remembers having seen any before in this locality. Occasionally schools have been fairly close inshore at Taieri Mouth and other parts of the ceasi.
