ST. JAMES
Two delightfully amusing comedies are at the St. James. The principal attraction is ‘ Home from Home,’ in which Sandy Powell tries to remain in prison rather than face his terrifying wife. Another well-known comedian, Hugh Herbert, is featured in ‘La Conga Nights,’ an amusing story of American night life. “ MAISIE ” IN AFRICA. Maisie is back on the screen again—this time in the jungles of Africa. With Ann Sothern in the title role, ‘ Congo Maisie,’ which will be the next attraction at the St. James, makes the showgirl as lovable, as amusing, and as surefire for entertainment as her adventures in the Wild West. It gives her another dramatically adventurous story. She finds herself in plenty of predicaments. She is stranded, subdues a band of savages, and wins her lover. Continuing the second role in the adventures of the wise-cracking showgirl, the actress wears her Maisie finery complete with imitation- jewels, parasol, and battered suitcase. Her team-mate in the jungle drama is John Carroll. ‘ Dangerous Fingers ’ will be the associate film.
