NOT ALLOWED IN BOMBED AREAS IN GERMANY STRICT WATCH OH STORIES (British Official Wireless.) Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright RUGBY, September 15. ‘ The Times ’ publishes a report from Berlin stating that foreign correspondents have been informed that tours of inspection of bombed areas have ceased, and any correspondent who attempts without authority to visit these areas or who sends out reports diifering from the official accounts, will bo instantly expelled from Germany. No correspondent can send out accounts of air raids before the official story has been despatched. The public are also prohibited from visiting bombed areas. An air raid alarm in Berlin lasted from 11.28 p.m. to 11.57 p.m. It is claimed that the raiders were driven hade. A second alarm after midnight lasted half an hour. This is the first occasion on which Berlin has experienced two raids in one night. AIR RAID VICTIMS MONEY POURING IN TO VICTORIA'S FUND MELBOURNE, September 16. Since Thursday £130,000 has been subscribed in Victoria in aid of the victims of the bombing raids on Britain. The organisers of the fund stated today that money was still literally pouring in. A collection taken in one group of theatres on Saturday night realised £I,OOO, Suburban municipal councils are considering a plan to add one penny to the rates and give the proceeds to the fund. All the newspapers have opened funds. The * Argus ’ has already raised £15,000 and the ‘ Herald ’ £7,000. SYDNEY LAUNCHES FUND SYDNEY, September 17. (Received September 17, at 9.10 a.m.) The Lord Mayor (Alderman Crick) yesterday launched a fund in Sydney on behalf of the victims of German bombing in Great Britain, the aim of which is £250,000. Gifts immediately forthcoming brought the day’s total to £15,000. MONEY POURING IN WORLD-WIDE CONTRIBUTIONS (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 16. (Received September 17, at 11.15 a.m.) Large gifts from all over the world continue to be sent to the Lord Mayor’s London air raid distress fund. The Governor-General of New Zealand has telegraphed £IO,OOO from the patriotic funds; £5,000 has been sent from the British colony at (Buenos Aires; £I,OOO comes from the Maharaja of Durbhanga; Brisbane has cabled another £25,000; the Governor of the United Provinces has sent a lakh (100,000) of rupees; and the British war relief organisation in New York £5,000. The fund,opened by a Kenya newspaper already amounts to over £BOO. At a meeting of the executive of the Air (Raid Distress Fund, large grants were made to meet the needs of the afflicted boroughs. In one case £5,000 was given. GERMAN-AMERICAN BUND CAMP HEAR KEHVIL RAIDED NEW YORK, September 16. The Kenvil County sheriff and deputies raided a German-A mericam Bund camp 12 miles from the scene of the Hercules explosion. They then visited the ruins of the plant. , AIRCRAFT PRODUCTION ANOTHER SPLENDID GIFT (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, September 16. (Received September 17, at 11.15 a.m.) Lord Lloyd has asked the High Commissioner for Palestine to convey the warmest thanks of the Government for the splendid contribution of £28,500 from Palestine and Transjordan towards the production of aircraft. “ This evidence of the determination of the people of these regions to support tho common cause is,” the Colonial Secretary added, “ most encouraging'.” .
