Messrs C. Stanley Smith,, W. Easton, and W. R. Sinclair left by to-day’s express for Wellington to attend meetings of tho Newspaper Proprietors’ Association.
' Mr P. W. Rule, of Timaru, was presented with tho gold medal of the New Zealand Institute of Architects by the chairman of the Canterbury branch, Mr G. A. J. Hart, at a luncheon held recently. Mr Hart said that the medal was intended for presentation to the person or firm producing the best public building of the year, and in this case it was awarded for the new surgical block at the Timaru Public Hospital. It was the second time that the medal had been won by a Timaru architect, In reply, Mr Rule paid a tribute to all those who had assisted him in the work. Staying at tho Grand Hotel are Mr W. J. Ganty, Mr P. N. Cryer, Mr A. A. Powell, Mr D. C. Slater (Wellington), Mr P. Milner (Oamaru), Mr W. R. Bell, Mr A. ,1. Macgregor, Air R. Bridgman, Mr E. J. von Tunzleman (Invercargill). A cable message from Princeton, New Jersey, states that Air J. H, Chapman, a New Zealander, with four other economic attaches, arrived there from Geneva to continue League of Nations work. On the guest list at the City Hotel are Air H. G. Jeffery (Auckland), Air R. P. Harold, Air T. Geo (Wellington), Air B. G. Robertson, Air H. B. Wilson (Christchurch), Air and Airs 0. Templeton (Wanaka), Air N. APGregor (Southland). Registrations at Wain’s Hotel are Mr J. Scott (Sydney), Air A. H. Talbot (Auckland), Air P. R. Robertson (New Plymouth), Air T. E. Douglas (Wanganui), Air E. V. West (Palmerston North), Air H. Fletcher (Wellington) , Air B. D. Shand, Air R. V. Pearce (Christchurch), Air T. S. Lindsay (Timaru), Professor L. C. Galli (Invercargill). Air R. N. Humphries (Auckland), Air L. A. Hill (Wellington), Airs L. Duncan, and Air O. A. Trippner (Christchurch) are at the Carlton Hotel. -
