R.A.F. inflicts another crushing reverse on Nazi raiders. Yesterday’s bag reaches total of 175 planes. Only 30 British machines lost, with 10 pilots safe. Germans make another deliberate raid on Buckingham Palace. Royal Family not in residence. One bomb strikes Queen’s apartments without exploding. Blind fury of Nazi raiders only strengthens resolution of Londoners. R.A.F. creates great havoc in Nazi invasion bases. French, Belgian, and Dutch ports subjected to terrific hammering. Hitler’s plans out of order. British forces in Egypt ready for largescale Italian offensive. Italian forces suffer heavy losses in desert operations, Rumania associates itself with Axis policy. Germany dictates selection of new .Cabinet. Soviet issues warning to Rumania in connection with “ provocative ” frontier incidents. Conscription Bill passed in America. Big naval programme also proposed.
