RIFLE SHOOTING
KIWI CLUB The Kiwi Defence Rifle Club opened the season on the Pelichet Bay rang* on Saturday with the shoot for the president’s match. Visibility was poor, but otherwise conditions were fair, with just enough wind to keep marksmen on the alert. The shoot consisted_ of an optional sighter and seven counting shots at 300yds and 500yds. Range possibles were hit at 500yds_ by Riflemen A. Baker and S. Smith. The highest scores at 300yds were 34’e, secured by Riflemen E. Adams and C, Kibblewhite. , ‘ ~ At a meeting held oil the range th® club decided to give wholehearted support to General Young’s scheme to employ the members as a unit of tho Home Guard under military jurisdiction. The president and Rifleman Whitehead were appointed delegates to a meeting called by the mayor. The details of Saturday’s shoot, which was attended by 17 members.
